This year, I’ve decided to split my usual Master

This year, I’ve decided to split my usual Masterclass in two: One focused on Portraiture, and the other on Landscape painting.

The reason? The nuances between how we understand and paint the 3D planes of the face vs. the vastness and depth of a Landscape are so distinct that they deserve separate, focused attention.

LANDSCAPE MASTERCLASS
17th – 20th January 2025

Both masterclasses will follow the same structure, taking place over four immersive days (8 hours each), with the goal of helping each student level up their skills, whatever their starting point. Flick through the slides for more info.

It was pretty spectacular, and I thought you might like to have a look!

Over 1,000 artworks from 750 students filled the space -
and, as always, it was a beautiful experience and never fails to be a highlight of my year.

When you mix your own blacks, you have the power to control the depth, warmth, and complexity of your shadows.

It’s not just about filling in dark areas; you’re giving the shadows real dimension and purpose.

This helps the darks work in harmony with the rest of your piece, supporting the mood and the story you’re trying to tell.
